Drone Day in Robotics and Engineering
February 5th, 2026

On January 29, 2026, the Robotics and Engineering class worked on an exciting and challenging drone project. The goal of the activity was to write code so that a drone could fly into a basket and then come back to the table by itself. Students used Python to program the drone, which made the project fun and interactive. It was exciting to see the drones fly, but many students also said it wasn’t easy. Some people had a hard time knowing exactly where the drone was going while it was in the air. Junah said, “I like the coding because it makes me think and try new things.” Kamsi said, “I like the challenge of it and trying to figure it out.” Even though it was difficult, a lot of students said they liked working on something modern and hands-on.

The drone flies through the air during the challenge, showing how students used their coding skills to control real technology.
The project didn’t just teach students about drones, it also showed how coding and engineering work together in real life. Some students didn’t enjoy using GoGuardian during the activity, but most agreed that learning to work with the technology was worth it. Mr. Zaragoza talked with the class and explained why this kind of project matters. He said, “It’s real-world engineering because it’s hands-on and modern.” Many students enjoyed testing different codes and watching the drone respond. There were moments when the drone didn’t go where expected, but students laughed, learned from mistakes, and tried again. By the end of class, everyone was talking about new ideas and future projects.

Mr. Zaragoza stands beside students and gives helpful advice as they test and improve their drone programs.
