Could We Live Without Phones?

Could we live without phones? That’s a question I’ve been wondering about, and in my opinion, the answer is no. Phones have both advantages and disadvantages for students. However, I believe phones have more benefits than drawbacks.

For example, phones make our daily lives easier. Without phones, we would have to communicate in person instead of texting, use computers more often, and carry actual cameras to take pictures. Calling would still be on telephones, making calls during emergencies impossible if you’re not at home. Though there are benefits, like people spending more time talking in person, fewer distractions, sleeping better, and spending more time out doing hobbies, I believe phones are still an important part of our lives.
In addition, they are also important for school and learning. Students can use phones to learn new information, check assignments, and communicate with classmates. Phones can also help students organize their schedules throughout their day, and set reminders of important dates, homework, or tests. Although phones can distract students, like games or just doomscrolling, they can be a helpful tool for education.

Compared to computers, phones are very portable, for example, you can place them into your purse, in your pocket, or just hold onto it when you're walking for your daily steps. They could also automatically connect to a mobile network, whereas a computer needs to rely on local Wi-Fi. Though, the disadvantages of phones are that it has a small screen and most people would agree that it’s hard to type. Computers have keyboards and larger screens, and it's much easier to organize/move files. In my opinion, I would still prefer phones because you could bring them almost everywhere, and who would want to bring a computer with you 24/7?
BUT, schools now have a law that restricts students from using phones at school. This ban is somewhat bad and has disadvantages. This is because if parents want to have a direct contact with their student, like if there was a threat of school shooting, they wouldn’t be able to reach their child. There are advantages to not allowing phones in school. This lets students actually talk face-to-face social skills instead of talking online, and it helps students put their attention more in class and on the lesson. So it’s a fifty-fifty situation.
To conclude, I believe living without phones would be very difficult in our daily lives. They make communication easier, help us contact others in emergency situations, and are useful tools for students. Even though phones can cause distractions and have some disadvantages, their benefits are important. Phones have become a big part of our everyday lives; therefore, we cannot live without phones.
